Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice on data privacy and protection issues, ensuring compliance with global data protection laws.
- Develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures that mitigate risk and support business objectives.
- Lead the response to data privacy incidents, including breaches, and oversee any necessary notifications.
- Work closely with IT, product development, and other business units to integrate privacy considerations into new projects and initiatives.
- Conduct due diligence and draft agreements related to data processing, transfers, and third-party vendor management.
- Stay abreast of evolving data privacy regulations and industry best practices, advising on their impact to the business.
- Provide training and education to internal stakeholders on data privacy laws and company policies.
- Represent the company in negotiations and dealings with data protection authorities and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in legal practice, with recent experience in data privacy law.
- LL.M. degree in law or equivalent experience with law qualifications.
- Proven track record of advising on complex data privacy matters and global regulations.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with a wide range of legal documents, including data processing agreements and privacy policies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership skills, capable of managing and guiding a team of legal professionals.
- Proficient in English, with strong legal research and writing abilities.
- A deep understanding of data privacy principles and the ability to apply them to practical business scenarios.
